Corrective surgery: How does this happen?

We are specialists in corrective surgery for lipoedema patients who are confronted with undesirable results after external surgery or persistent discomfort after external liposuction. The number of self-proclaimed lipoedema experts has risen sharply in recent years. In most cases, this is simply a marketing ploy to expand existing business areas to include lipoedema treatment.
Patients are often dissatisfied after these treatments because not enough abnormal fatty tissue was suctioned out, not all areas were treated evenly or some areas were not treated at all (e.g. back of the thighs, knees, forearms, hips, bottom and flanks) or the aesthetic result leaves a lot to be desired.
Furthermore, lipoedema pain often persists and patients do not feel adequately cared for, either before or especially after the operations, as some doctors hardly take the time for them and are unable to offer a solution to the problem, usually due to a lack of understanding of the complexity of the condition. We hear these statements from our patients more and more often in patient counseling.
It is only possible to predict the redistribution of lipoedema after liposuction if a large number of patients have been followed up for a long time after the operations. Ideally, the patient will see a surgeon who treats these areas from the outset.

Differences between initial surgery and corrective surgery

It is important to understand that a distinction must be made between initial surgery and corrective surgery. The aim of an initial operation is to remove as much of the abnormal fatty tissue as possible and to improve the aesthetic appearance. Corrective surgery, on the other hand, focuses not only on removing the excess fatty tissue, but also on optimizing the results of previous procedures and correcting any complications. In this case, the planning in advance must also be particularly customized. In some cases, we use special surgical instruments, different tumescent solutions and several surgical techniques in succession to significantly improve the aesthetic result and significantly reduce discomfort. The operation times are adjusted and the aftercare can also be more complex than with initial operations.

Is corrective surgery possible for me?

If you are unhappy with the results of previous liposuction procedures, have persistent complaints such as pain, swelling or irregularities, or if you notice asymmetries or irregularities in the treated area, you have come to the right place. We take your needs and wishes seriously and offer you individual solutions to achieve the best possible results because we understand your concerns. During our consultation, we can examine you and, if possible, offer treatment.

Risks and safety

As with any surgical treatment, lipoedema correction also involves certain risks. Possible risks include infection, bruising, seroma, asymmetry and undesirable aesthetic results. We minimize the risk of complications by taking all necessary precautions and performing all procedures with the utmost precision and care after careful planning.
